Olive Oil: Family and Tradition

Our families, Moreno-Pereira and Campos, come from the Northern and Central South of Portugal. We have been cultivating olive trees and producing oil for over a century.

Our families always worked in the field, dedicating themselves entirely to the harvest, production, and sale of olive oil. We are proudly full of history, cuisine, and customs. These traditions have always been remembered in the Moreno-Pereira family, producers of olive oil since the 18th century, not changing over time like the olive tree itself, one of the oldest trees in the world.

We still use old methods to harvest the olives in hilly terrain that is difficult to access. The harvest is performed individually when the olive is still green, tree by tree, placing stretched tarps under the tree. The men hit the olive branches with a stick to make the fruit falls. Then the women would pick the tarps and remove most of the leaves that also fell with the fruit.
After the harvest, the olives are separated from the leaves, then cold-pressed to extract the olive oil.

These factors, together with the variety of olives we use, are the main factors in the quality of our olive oil. Some are milder than others, slightly spicy, denser, or with a more robust and diverse aroma.
